Ideas & Resources for End of Year Math Review
It’s the end of the year, and we hope students remember all the math skills and content from the year. How should we revisit topics we have already taught and see what students know? I have gathered some of my favorite ideas and resources that will give us insight and push student thinking!
Sticky Note Review
This first idea is simple to prep and accessible to most all levels of learning. You can use it for the end of a unit or the end of the year.
Around the room, hang topics you have studied.
Students visit each topic, and write a math problem or question that fits that topic on a sticky note.
Next students visit each topic and take a problem written by another student and solve it.
I like this activity because students get to be creative with the questions they write. It also is easy to see their depth of knowledge based on how difficult the questions are that they write. Some teachers have used these grade level math signs to quickly prep an end of year review in this format.
Math Error Analysis
One way to push students to attend to precision is through error analysis. To create your own activity, gather problems your students should be able to solve. And then solve them, but incorrectly! Include common misconceptions and common errors you have seen students make. Maybe even include multiple solution paths for students to analyze. Finding mistakes is great for partner and group work because it leads to discussions about the math.

Collaborative Review Coloring Sheets
Want to get your students working together and discussing the math they have learned throughout the year? A collaborative coloring activity is a great way to review!
Students work in groups of 4. Each group member gets a different sheet of math problems to solve. They color the spaces based on their answers. Once all 4 pieces are complete and assembled, a picture is revealed!

Hands-On Activities
Lessons that involve students creating something are a great way to get students engaged and thinking deeper. When reviewing previous learning, hands-on activities can keep the content fresh and meaningful. I especially love when the activity brings together several standards that students have learned.
